Food production is responsible for a third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Yet companies, consumers, and policymakers struggle to compare impacts because methodologies are inconsistent, data is fragmented, and lifecycle assessments (LCAs) are expensive and time-consuming.

The result? Climate action in the food sector is slowed down by lack of trust, transparency, and scale.

Project EOS-Ayce changes this.

With funding from Eurostars, we are developing a transparent, EU-aligned methodology and platform that can calculate the environmental footprint of food products at scale. Our aim: to make food impact data reliable, accessible, and cost-effective, so it can guide decisions from farm to fork.

🚀 What We’re Developing

Our project will deliver the Environmental Operating System (EOS) which will make environmental impact data accessible, comparable, and cost-efficient for the entire food industry.

  • 340,000+ product calculations using sound scientific methods in year one
  • A farm-to-fork data collection system that integrates farm, supply chain, and retail data
  • Calculation engine that can scale to millions of products
  • Modular architecture with gap-filling for complete LCA calculations when there’s missing data
  • User-friendly interfaces and APIs for supply chain data integration

The result will be an open-source European methodology for food impact measurement that we intend to become a standard trusted by science, industry, and policymakers.

🤝 Our Team

Project EOS-Ayce brings together three organizations:

  • Klim - A regenerative agriculture project developer and technology platform enabling food and beverage businesses to reduce commercial risk and emissions in their supply chains
  • Inoqo - AI-driven, scalable SaaS for food retailers to calculate product-level impact using minimal input data—leveraging ingredient lists, origin, processing, and packaging
  • Eaternity - The world’s largest scientifically curated LCA database for food, built in partnership with ETH Zurich, UZH, ZHAW, FiBL, Quantis, and others

Together, the consortium merges deep scientific rigor, scalable AI-powered calculation, and on-the-ground, regenerative data collection. This combined experience makes us uniquely equipped to set the standard for transparent, European food-impact metrics.
